I would never say that having a root canal is fun but I had the best time with the Dr. It's the first time I have seen her (my dentist says he's too old to deal with root canals so his partner does them). She was great; 30 years old and prego just like me plus very bubbly and just overall sweet and fun. We talked about the babies and she really made me feel at ease. I have a horrible gag reflex and hate that nasty rubber on my lips and having hands in my mouth. The whole experience I was dreading and she made it a little better....until she started.
She told me that the note from my OB said not to use Epenephrine, which is what is in the normal anesthetic that they use for everyone. They called my OB and the OB said not to use it so she had to use this other generic stuff because she always follows what the OB says. Well, halfway through the 1.5 hour procedure I could still feel the pain because of the crappy meds they could give me. So she called my OB back and explained everything to them and they changed their tune. The second half of the procedure went a little better, except that the second dose of meds that the OB approved didn't kick in very fast, meanwhile the first dose was wearing off. Oh, I was so glad to get done with that procedure.
I feel ok right now but ready for bed! Tomorrow is my 20 week dr appt. Terry and I are both stoked to hear the heartbeat to make sure everything is going ok with our little man. I think I felt him move last night but I want to be sure he is ok. It is so nerve wracking this time! I never considered all of the complications that could happen when I was prego with Michael. I am just trusting in the Lord to be with our little man! I'm still pregnant which is so wonderful and such a gift from God! A year ago, Terry and I just didn't know when it would happen and here we are! And Michael is being such a sweetheart lately. AND Terry and Michael have been bonding lately. I am just so blessed to have my two boys!

can't wait to hear about your appt! I'm sure he's having a wonderful time in there! Hopefully you won't be having anymore root canals any time soon!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm a mom, I love going to the dentist. It's time to myself to chit chat to the nice lady and I leave with sparkling clean teeth. That's kind of sad, isn't it? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that you're halfway done - now you get to enjoy looking like you're pregnant (and everyone smiles at you and gives you their seat and opens your doors) and feel the baby move. I felt I could finally connect with Kara when I felt those pokes and flutters and hiccups. Ah, I'm getting a little misty-eyed remembering those days!
Well, I'll tell ya one thing.......I certainly DON'T miss those days! :) I had great pregnancies, but after the 4th, it made me kinda ill just to look at someone who was "prego!" Love your slang, Jessica, but the word "prego" just makes me hungry, lol! So sorry the dental procedure was not heavenly! I always hate going to the dentist. If I don't have a headache when I get there, I have one when I leave because of the crook in your neck throughout the exam. Can't wait to read about your "prego" appt! Love you!
